about

A split EP with Ohio native Hands Never Sleep. The two had played a show together during the Hitchhiking for Dummies Tour, which lead to the inevitable release of this EP. They decided that it'd be unique to make the split completely acoustic. They also, went with a loose theme of bridges, which is shown in Convincing The Bridges and HAER-30 (Better known as The Old St Charles Bridge). All in all the EP became the exact concept the two thought up.

Track Name: Hands Never Sleep - Convincing the Bridges
Maybe it's not the way you speak
that makes you so vulnerable.
Maybe it's the whispers in your ear,
the backwards motives.

And you cut me low with those gestures.
They're just bastard remarks to make your pleasure.
But I must confess
that mirror plated smile does impress.

Where do we draw the line this time,
when the walls that they place don't feel outside?
Well I'll make my own reservation,
so keep it in mind.
Perhaps I should erase you...
No, no, no, I can't decide.

Indentations of all these roots,
shorted out wires and more dead ends.
Well maybe it's the signals that disappear,
the endless current.

And these killers laid me in the quicksand,
well there couldn't be a more deserving man.
But I must address:
Why are we stepping through the mirror
when all that I love is on this side?
Maybe I could never see it clearer,
with all the taunting thoughts that haunt my mind.

The systematic selfish mortal sense of time,
well it moves through your head,
it fucks with your head.
And those scales that you hold don't convince the equilibrium,
but now that you're here, let's discuss how we feel.

Where do we draw the line this time,
when the walls that they place don't feel outside?
Well I'll make my own reservation,
so keep it in mind.
Perhaps I should erase you...
No, no, no, I can't decide.
Track Name: Hands Never Sleep - A Path to Stray
If you believe it's there,
then how could you deny the fact
that I'm unaware.
So hit me with a spotlight--
As the beam strikes me,
I don't find it convincing.
"Rehearse a little longer
and then lose my number."

And leave my arrogance
dead or dying in the back lot,
with a way to apprehend
the object of your heartthrob.
Back in the 1990's,
I found the prospect frightening
to wait a little longer
just to sate my hunger.

And don't tell me that's okay,
if you say it the right way.
But I'm sure you'd all,
you'd all sing along.
And I'm sure you'd call
just to tell me I was wrong.

There's something stagnant in the air,
or maybe it's the airwaves?
The chemistry is there,
but dignity is absent.
So let the art lose focus,
what pays at the moment
sets the standard for a faulty pattern.

Don't replicate what you can't contain,
if you signed your name
was it all in vain?

So cue the applause, please,
because they're not listening.
Simply accepting the fact
that I'm here to get paid.
So can I get paid?
Yeah, can I get paid?
You can hear them say,
"The path is not yours to stray."
Track Name: Hands Never Sleep - Drug Dealer (Anthony Green cover)
If you allow something so unnecessary
get you down, there's no one else to blame.

I need something stronger,
something extra strength.
Millions of materials used to trade...

If you could offer only love,
you'd be like a god to us.
Like a drug dealer,
all sold out of trust.
You threw it away.

I used to mind
that everyone I know seemed to hate themselves,
but I do it as well.

We need something stronger,
something extra strength.
Millions of recordings that I've faked.

If you came around enough
You'd be like a god to us
Like a drug dealer
All sold out of trust
We threw it away

You'd be like a god to us
Like a fool's healer
Like a tarot card reader
Watch you throw it all away

You'd be like a god to us
Like a drug dealer
All sold out of trust
But you've thrown it all away

You've thrown it all away.
Track Name: y(our) best friend's wedding
I wish that I could see the way the world weighs down on you
As you can tell that it is weighing down on me too
I wish that I could see the same as you see this mountain view
Because I can tell that it is weighing down on you, dear

You know, that I wish that I had grown up in the fifties
And you know, that I wish that you could see how I used to be
When I had fewer things on my weary mind
When I still had the time for you and to write

Faded blue jeans at your best friend's wedding
By then I could tell that I'd be leaving you
I know that you couldn't understand a thing that I was meaning
As we started to leave your best friend's wedding
I never had the time to explain that nothing's going to change
(It all just stays the same)

I was raised to believe that there was such a thing as love
As I recollected over stale beers and wet cigarettes
Of that old tattoo on your father's arm that read I'll always love you Colette
And I always thought that I could find a love like that

But why, yeah why would something so beautiful happen to a wreck like me
I still wish that you could see this side of the river banks
The old friends, bonfires, we're singing broken off key melodies
To the songs we wrote then fell in love with then grew to regret

These faded blue jeans at your best friend's wedding
By then I could tell that I'd be leaving you
I know that you couldn't understand a thing that I was meaning
As we started to leave your best friend's wedding
I never had the time to explain that nothing's going to change

Well if nothing's going to change, yeah?
Well I guess it all stays the same
And if nothing's going to change, dear...
I guess I can change my name

Faded blue jeans at your best friend's wedding
By then I could tell that I'd be leaving you
I know that you couldn't understand a thing that I was meaning
As we started to leave your best friend's wedding
I never had the time to explain that nothing's going to change
(It all just stays the same)
Track Name: HAER-30 (the old st. charles bridge)
Well, don't you go now, I think I could use you to sleep. Yeah, don't you go anywhere without me, because you know you've got big plans, yeah real big plans to meet. To make a new kind of remedy for love. Oh love, don't you abandon my side. Yeah love, oh love, don't you leave me here... alone. I said, don't you ever begin to leave here, because you that I still need you. Yeah, don't you, don't, don't you go away this storm was built for you and me. Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't you go, because you know I need you, yeah, yes I do.

I need you like a storm needs a breeze, I need you like a bird needs to sing, and oh yeah, you know I need you like a stray (dog) needs home. But goddamn I hope you know that I'm not ever coming back home. Until I know that you're the one waiting for me to reappear. Until then I'll be a ghost on the side of road home, and hoping that you know that I'll be back as soon as I can. (That I am...)

Know that I can't come home until you come back around. So, come around, dear. Because I need you like a storm needs a breeze, I need you like a bird needs to sing, and oh yeah, you know I need you like a stray dog needs home. And goddamn I hope you know that I'm not ever coming home. Until then I know that I'll be ghost on the side of the road on the way back home. Hoping that you know that I'll be back as soon, yeah, as soon as I can't.

You know, that I can't come home until you come back around. So, come back around, yeah, come back around, dear.
